I have been learning about using my breathing for a long time now but it has taken me even longer to discover that it works! As I reflected about it this morning, I realized it has become the way to start my day. I use it for meditation, yoga, and many times during times of stress, anger or frustration. I cannot speak for you but my life is not always sunshine and roses and I doubt that yours is either.
Stopping for even 1 or 2 minutes to breath brings me to a calmer state. I feel my heart rate decrease, shoulders relax, and best of all I react more calmly to those moments of anxiety and fear. This does take practice. I challenge you to try it for a week and let me know how you feel. Remember it is worth it for your wellbeing and selfcare.
Breath in to the count of 4 slowly and out to the count of 5 slowly as you start your practice.
