My Own Experience
A few years ago, while taking a course, I was required to attend a series of therapy sessions. My first thought? “I’m fine — I don’t need therapy!” I was sure I had no problems to sort out. Full of confidence (or maybe a little full of myself), I sat across from my therapist, who smiled and nodded. I should have clued in right then.
After just two sessions, memories and emotions I hadn’t thought about in years began to surface. Some were small and seemingly insignificant; others were much more painful. It was eye-opening.
My therapist gently explained that these were traumas — life events, both big and small, that shape how we think, react, and feel. They can quietly influence our lives, making us fearful, anxious, jealous, or frustrated without us even realizing why
How a Life Coach Helps
While a life coach isn’t the same as a therapist, the work we do also helps you uncover what’s holding you back. Think of it like stepping off the hamster wheel of indecision. You want to move forward — to make changes — but something always seems to get in the way.
Life coaches and therapists are there to listen, support, and encourage — not to blame or shame you for your feelings or beliefs. Our role is to hold space for you to explore, grow, and heal. We empower you to rediscover who you truly are.
A life coach won’t tell you what to do. Instead, they ask thoughtful questions that help you uncover your own answers. Through this process, you begin to recognize your strengths, see your choices more clearly, and gain the confidence to take action. It’s empowering — because the guidance comes from within you.
The Power of Support
In today’s world, where life can often feel overwhelming, having someone walk beside you — whether a therapist or a life coach — can make all the difference. I’ve worked with both, and each experience has helped me grow in ways I never expected.
Even as a mature adult, I continue to discover new things about myself, and that’s what makes life so rich and rewarding. Growth never stops — and neither should your belief in what’s possible for you.
